Why Google Takeout is required

Google Photos does not provide service-account or domain-wide access to a complete personal library. Each mapped source user creates a Google Takeout export containing Google Photos and chooses Add to Drive. ElephantsData then detects only the relevant Takeout archive parts.

02

Safe extraction into OneDrive

The worker validates archive ranges and entry paths, skips companion-only archive parts when appropriate, removes temporary extraction data and uploads the resulting media into a dedicated Google Photos Takeout folder. The destination contains normal files that users can browse in OneDrive.

03

Progress, later exports and rollback

The results page records photo counts, bytes, checkpoints and failures. A later Takeout export can be synchronized as a new run. Manifest-based rollback can move recorded destination files to the OneDrive recycle bin while protecting files modified after migration.
