01

IMAP source requirements

The provider must expose a resolvable IMAP hostname and permit mailbox or app-password authentication. Implicit TLS on port 993 with a valid server certificate is the recommended configuration.

02

Microsoft 365 readiness

Map each source mailbox to a licensed Exchange Online destination. Confirm mailbox creation, capacity and effective application access before starting the batch.

03

Checkpointed mailbox transfer

ElephantsData records per-user progress and durable checkpoints so supported retries can continue from accepted work. Exception reports keep skipped or failed items visible for review.

04

Protocol scope and limitations

IMAP exposes messages and folders, not a complete collaboration account. Contacts, calendars, rules, delegates, applications and native online archives are outside a standard IMAP copy.
